Ipod dock cable question

Hi guys and gals I want to buy a cable to extend from my Ipod dock (under drivers' seat) to my Ipod so that I can operate using the Ipod rather than the car stereo controls.

I see on ebay that a lot seem to be incompatible with car systems.

Does anyone know where I can get what I am looking for and am I correct in thinking I need the female 30 pin to male jack cable?

Mk2 Leon FR 2008 btw.

Works fine but had to buy this adapter so the phone charges.

I also have the lightning adapter on the end of them all so it works on the iPhone5.
