If theses brakes are like most nowadays then the caliper moves as the pads wear. One pad is fixed in the caliper and the other moves under the action of the piston. As the fixed pad wears the caliper shifts to maintain minimal clearance between the pad and the disc.

You need to satisfy yourself that the shifting caliper won't reduce the already tiny clearance between weight and caliper, or that the brake is the type with fixed caliper and two pistons.
