Hi.

I have some issues with my MK4 Ibiza 1.4TDI. I realise many of these have been discussed, and I have read every thread I can find on this topic, but some of my circumstances haven't been mentioned.

- First of all, when I get in the car, if I do not turn the car on, after 30 seconds the car locks itself and presumably also alarms itself (the small red light on the drivers door starts flashing) - is this a feature or a fault. The old owner described it as a feature, from my reading, it seems to be a fault with the central locking.

- Even when it is locked/alarmed. I.e. if I press the lock key whilst inside. There seems to be no motion detector alarm, or microphone. Again, is this just the case with MK4 Ibiza's?
I have seen people talking about a switch to enable/disable the motion sensor part either by the bonnet release catch or on the drivers door pillar, however I cant seem to see one in either of these locations.

-If the car has automatically locked itself after the 30 seconds and I then get out of the car (unlocking the drivers door), and then press the lock button on the fob, the passengers door unlocks itself. But this is ONLY when the door auto locks, if I lock all the doors with the fob and press the lock button again, the passenger door remains locked.

I suspect these may all be to do with the locking modules in the doors. As VAG-COM gives error codes 00928 and 00929 Implausible signal errors for both doors - however it calls it 'intermittent'. Since they locked fine I decided it wasn't worth the hassle disassembling both doors as of yet.

However, I see most people saying that if the microswitch in either of the door locks is gone, then the interior light doesnt work upon opening the door. However mine does. So are the locks broken? Or is it potentially something else?

Door lock module has failed, common fault.

There is a guide in the FAQs Section.

Do you think the car isnt alarming then? Because at the moment the locking isnt unbearable, but I'd like to have the car alarmed due to my area not being great in terms of car break ins.

If the alarm isnt going to work without new locks, looks like both modules will need to be done :(

Easiest way to know if it's the modules is does the interior light come on when you open the doors?

Yes, as mentioned above, this is what had me questioning if it was the modules at fault

Damn... Are the £35 modules from ebay good enough? Because it seems pointless putting worn modules in from salvage places given the common nature of the problem, and getting official parts and fitting them will make this a £200-£300 job, money which I don't really have to spend
