...my clutch starts to slip.

It looks like this year ill be buying a bag of satsumas and divvying them up amongst the family again.

the car is still under warranty but of course, clutch not covered!

rang about a bit and got a quote for £350. not really interested in chipping the cupra so wont bother going for an upgrade. i was quoted £1000 for a sachs racing equivalent.
But i did think hmmmm what if it has already been chipped? how could i tell! are there any tell-tale signs? it does spin up in 3rd in the wet lol. maybe this is why its gone through a clutch by 86k miles.

but anyway does £350 sound fairly reasonable?

my mates just replaced the clutch on his gt tdi golf, the clutch kit cost him 120 including slave clynder, clutch was sach standard one tho, he fiitted it himself shop round you should get one fitted cheaper id say

i would say its been mapped if its gone and it spins up in 3rd in the wet.....

Depends how often it spins up in 3rd cos I've done it a couple of times and mines standard. Get an uprated clutch, put in on RR and then if it's had a stage 1 you have loads of options or if it's standard get a hard stage 1 map and get the torque flying over 300!

Right bit of an update!

a mechanic has told me that we have special flywheels? and that they'd want to test the tension of the springs to assess whether or not the flywheel is also on its way out.

if so, that'll be £650. dear god.
