I have just fitted a K&N highflow filter (33-3111) onto my Ibiza 115 DSG, last car I fitted a K&N to was quite some time ago on a Astra G 1.8 SRI in 2003. I thought I would give it a go as I now always run on 99 Ron (allot smoother and better mpg). So I thought a highflow filter might help performance and it is a mod that really does improve driveability of the 1.0 ECO TSI.
I assume mostly due to being a small capacity engine and the impact of improved breathability with less effort to get air into the turbo. Combined with the higher RON fuel there is maybe an extra 5 to 6 Bhp and 5 to 10 Nm as well. But that breathability is felt with much sharper throttle response as the turbo spools up quicker and I also noticed the car rolls allot more when you lift off the throttle.
Throttle control is also more linear with less lag and similar to our Cupra Born. There is also better midrange punch, however, the biggest shock has been the 5-6 mpg improvement over the past 200 miles. Motorway was a steady 55 mpg and my usual run from hotel to site is 36 to 37 mpg but today was 42 mpg. Worthwhile MOD IMO. I was going for the Pipercross PP2001 but the K&N was on offer so got that.
