we'll the k03 finally gave up today which was a nice way to start new years eve  i knew it was a bit to noisey to be healthy

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i36/2roly/Photo-0063.jpg

so it looks like i'll be after a new turbo next week so i can get the car back on the road

would like to go for the gt2x but don't have the money to buy everything i need so i think im gonna go the k03s and new remap route, can anybody recommend anywhere to get a new/recon k03s from ??

cheers

Ben

with the amount of mk3 owners that have gone to the ko3s im sure you colud pick up a cheap ko3 untill you have the money for the gt2x as it would be a bit of a waste to got ko3s and remap it then in few months want to got gt2x

i had thought about that but next on the shopping list was a diff, uprated clutch etc so the gt2x is a long way off i think

just after something to give it a little kick up the backside for the momment

yea ko3s should give it that bit better top end not sure on recon or new ones but people are sourcing them for around 200 i think

quattronics in lincoln offered me a used K03s with 3 months warranty for £275, give them a call on 01522 540039.

i can get a recon one through a local supplier for about £400 just wondering if there's anything cheaper and preferably from a VAT registered company, that way work can buy it for me ;)

i can see that tuesday mornings going to be a busy one

out of interest, what age/mileage was your blower when it went? how long was it 'noisy' for before it failed?

it's a 2001 AYP engine that's covered 46k, i've done 9k since i've had it but not sure how it was driven before

i'd only noticed the noise over the past couple of days, but im noticing alot more engine/gearbox noises since fitting the VT race mounts

oh, that's a dissapointingly early failure. There was me thinking you were gonna say 100k

I must say i'm constantly gratefull that my 8.5 year old/92k clutch and K03 are still going despite me trying to finish them off with a remap at 85k (touch wood) :(

I've seen them go for pennies (k03) as they're virtually worthless to the mod brigade.

Revo kev has a couple he picked up that he might sell.... certainly the ones I've seen sell are well under the £50 mark

you have pm roly :)

there is no market for 2ns hand k03's, even ones on ebay go for 20 quid or so.

fl@pper, you can get two from audi S4's on ebay for peanuts! keep your eye out, always k03's on there :)
