Whos kerbed their shiny FR 18s?

Im running P Zero Rosso at the mo, and have kerbed the nearside front and rear, quite badly - No rim protector!!

My old cupra TDi did 65k miles without a single kerb mark, on conti sport contacts, and that was with plenty of bangs and scrapes against kerbs! but the protector on the contis did its job.

Views on decent tyres with rim protectors to replace, SP9000, Contis? etc

Also, anyone had their wheels refurbed?

Cheers

You might have seen my previous posts asking for a new or secondhand 18" wheel. I personally was doing a one point turn in the road, wheel fell down a gulley and pushed the wheel against a granite kerb. Have obtained some good s/hand ones but think the front n/s will always be likely to catch the kerb.

i sold some lights on ebay, the guy lived near by so i dropped them off for him, he works at a car wash and offered a free clean, when i got home i noticed the front wheel curbed, was the chain or pulley or whatever it was that just caught it.

Pretty gutted, but its barely noticable

Taught me to only wash the car by hand:whistle:

Wife did the front near side twice, after I had torn a shred off her I did the rear near side on the way to work.....

Had to go home and eat humble pie.

Seen a guy round the corner from smart wheels who said he would be able to repair them for £40 per wheel.

My mates 330i & ibiza sport both have SP9000 which have fairly large rim protectors and I can get them for 95£ each, so I may give those a try, although I did like the contis on the old cupra!

That would be a corncern of mine, having the wheel refurbed - paint matching, but I would be looking to have it done when the tyres are changed.

Anyone know how much for a new wheel??

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx have excellent rim protection. Saved my bacon a couple of times when I had them on my old LCR. Not a bad tyre either.

kerbed nearside rear 18" - after only 1000 miles - how anoying is that.
Wicked Wheels quoted £55 per wheel to refurb. the guy said they have to resurface the entire rim to match the Seat colour and they cant do that in one of the mobile units, has to go to workshop so best wait until its really in need.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's are pretty good for the sidewalls, and theyre pretty much the best performance tyre too ;)

I kerbed the front offside yesterday quite badly i was overtaking a parked lorry in a side street when i noticed the lorry wheels were cocked i went over as far as i could and grating noise, you know the rest!!,

Ive had 4 new cars with low profile tyres never marked one of the wheels before but the leon 2 wheels now Can these repair people match the anthracite colour because the other thing is the wheels are like £300 plus each!! Also all the ones on ebay are damaged anyone noticed that?
