Kings SEAT Soton - rubbish service!

I have detailed the reasons why I went to visit in my last thread...

My LCR has a turbo pressure leak somewhere

I was asked to bring my car over so they could have a look at it to try and fix my problem. The mechanics looked at the car and confirmed there was a problem but couldn't locate the source of the problem...

I was told that they couldn't look at all the hoses etc as the engine was too hot to get to some of them so they needed to get it booked in overnight some time so that they can look at the car cold - I have however been advised by another VAG car specialist that this shouldn't be a problem... Kings SEAT don't have a courtesy car until July which is no good for me at all as I need to get my car sorted out asap.

I was then charged £41.13p for their time to look at my car after them having not managed to even find out what the problem was and my car given back to me in the same state

I am infuriated by this - I personally would have been embarrased to ask for the money if I was the dealer.

So it seems to be... incompetant mechanics and a service department with no idea what customer retention means

Special word needs to be given to Graham in the service dept who never smiles no matter how friendly you try to be and seems to have absolutely no personality whatsoever.

I bought my car from them new in 2002 and have had it serviced there ever since.

Yesterday they charged me forty one quid for nothing... Thats forty one quid I really can't afford to just throw away. In fact when they gave me the piece of paper with the "work done" on it I just gave it back to them and told them to throw it away because all it said was something along the lines of "turbo problem, one hours labour" - Not really useful to keep in the service history folder

Driving back from Kings SEAT in North Baddesly I felt genuinely aggrieved about this and couldn't understand how they had the gall to charge me for doing absolutely no work on my car whatsoever.

I phoned them and spoke to a lady and voiced my displeasure as politely as possible who said that she would get the dealer principle Kevin Fisher to call me back about this - I haven't had the phone call yet - maybe he is busy? Who knows? All I know is that this has left a very sour taste in my mouth

They have lost my business now for good and I will recommend that anyone who has a SEAT locally go elsewhere

Very dissapointed!

Yup I'll second that they are a pile of crap there too.. I go to Meadens of Sway now and they're much better, but in time the car will end up at a VAG specialist if I keep it till 100k etc. At the moment it'll prob be JKM as I haven't given them a go yet.

Plus in time I want cruise control, leather re-trim, centre arm rest etc. But then if I get a better paid job with low milage then I'm just going to save for something else. I'd love a MK4 R32

I can understand you grievance mate, but why did you pay the bill then, surely you should of kicked off whilst you were there, it would of carried more weight, than leaving the premises and then trying to argue it.

fault finding isn't it

like a call out charge, or as you would expect if you were in the same position

They didn't find the fault though - only confirmed what I already told them

I call it anti-customer retention, their choice but not the best choice from their point of view

Edited to add - no let me rephrase that: I call it taking the piss out of a long standing customer

I agree and I was kicking myself in the car on the way back - at the time I was suprised they asked for a payment and my initial thought was "they did spend some time looking at my car"

But then I was dwelling in retrospect on the way home

My car is going to JKM to be checked out tomorrow... it's out of warranty now so if they are good - they will get my business from now on
