Knock noise from under driver seat??

Hi,

I tried searching for answer on this but as you can imagine seat and knock threw up a load of irrelevant threads.

There is knocking noise from under my drivers seat. When i sit down in it and when i sit forward and again when back.
It is really annoying as it makes the knocking noise when i accelerate and again when i brake. Every time.

Cant seem to figure where the problem is?

Has anyone else experienced this or have advise on what to do to sort it?

Does it sound like its actually inside the car or underside of the car? or are you undecided on this? Does it only make the banging once or if you accelerate hard does it repeatidly do it?

It is definitely in the seat mechanism below the seat.
Just moving forward and back in the seat makes the knock noise.
Its to do with weight transfer and hence the noise when accelerating and braking - but is definitely the seat.
And its in any position along the rail

Mine does exactly the same. Drives me crazy. When i brake it is more noticable. I think it maybe a loose bolt. Not had a chance to look properly yet.

I would suspect worn runners, try moving the seat forward or back one click.

I had something like this, Had the seat out a few times and never could find what it was? really p***** me off. It did sound like it was coming from the runners but everything was tight? I ended up buying a nice recaro interior!! Problem solved

same thing with me but strangely it went on its own

Happens in all positions (well the ones around where i need the seat - havent tried every position) so moving to one click back forwards doesnt sort it.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this noise? I've got the same, took a look at the weekend and couldnt work out what it could be, exactly.

I got exactly the same problem. Drives me nuts sometimes.

Ive had the same problem and like everyone else it drives me crazy...mines when i corner. Ive had the seat out and checked the whole thing over with no luck

As an additional update, I spoke with a VAG tech this weekend who told me they did a lot of these under warranty (same noise). The used to pretty much replace all the seat frame. He is going to look if they now do a repair kit for me. He wasnt exactly sure what was making the noise but did confirm it was something around the front mechanism.
