i have noticed a knocking noise when im driving along, especialy if its a bit of a rough road
sounds like its comming from the front/os, checked everything aroud that area seems all ok.
the only thing that seems loose it a couple of pipes i think are for the aircon, when wiggled a certan way they do make a simmler noise.
sadly since i can only seem to get it do do it while on the move i cant really tell what it is
if i drive at say 20mph and wiggle the wheel left and right it knocks on cue with the steering.

going to pop in to ted johnson on thursday so the guy can have a listen and hopefully take it from there.
have also asked about the ECU update as i find if i leave the car a couple of days without driving, i get BATTERY LOW come on the stereo

anyone had a simmler problem? i did have an issue before with the aircon pipe rattling.
i hope its not somthing more serious like a wheel bearing or the suspention :( :(
that said it is only 16 months old and should be coverd under warrenty.

anyone any thoughts?

If I am driving along and steer into a tight bend at slowish speed with it being bumpy I get a sort of rattle knocking noise and can feel it through the wheel but I always but it down to being normal. Recently though when dropping off speedbumps I get a clunk, almost as if the bodykit is hitting the ground. Its not though. May also have to take it to the dealer.
 
I have and so have others. Its quite common. I have just had gearbox and clutch replaced, mine was excessive though. Very noticeable on very rutted roads. Also there is a software upgrade for the DSG which helps. There are numerous threads on here. It seems to be early Bocas and Cupras particularly.Mine is a 59 plate Jan last year.
 
my fiesta knocked like that and the speed bump clunk ounds afy familiar, i could find anything wrong with it at all either.......then the front springs snapped.....so be careful. the AA guy who helped me said it was a common fault in the design of all super minis fiesta ibiza clios etc
 
Update!!

bit of a update, i have it booked in to dealers next tuesday...
but the noise has been really doing my head in so decided to take a peek.
so with the help of my mechanic friend had the car in the air and wheels off for a good look.
think the cause of the noise is the trackrod.
thinking about it the noise did start about a month ago when i hit a dirty great pothole in the road...
il pass this info on to the dealers and see what they say. unless its actualy faulty its unlikely to be coverd under warrenty :(
that said if they do say it is accdent damage then il see about claiming from the council.

**before anyone jumps down my throat about the pothole:**
it was at night time when i hit the pothole, i didnt see it, and it wasnt there the previous day!

If the pothole is there get a picture of it if ya going to make a claim. Put something next to the hole to get a picture of size ie, a can of coke or something.
 
And then send me a pic, i squared an alloy on my cupra on a pothole, got home and went to get a pic the follwoing evening after work and it had been filled!

So i need a pic that would bend an alloy. (I am in S yorks too :whistle:)

UPDATE:
Just picked my car up from the dealers, they tell me "Off Side Front Droplink has Excessive Play"
Coverd under warrenty so no worries.

booked in to be fixed on Friday. they even updated my ECU to stop the battery drain, must say car dosnt sound as rough when starting from cold anymore.

oh and they even loaned me a 1.2 ecomotive for a day :)

walk a minute in any direction and you'll have half a dozen to choose from.:lol:
 
Finaly fixed by the good people at ted johnson, ecu update and a new droplink :)

Car feels brandnew again!

I am having the same problem at the moment. On rough roads, there is an annoying knocking noise coming from the front passenger side.I was thinking that it might be the front bushes.
 
i love dodging pot holes, makes me look pissed! its twice as bad tho if you hit them under braking!! ouch...
 
My cupra is sounding worse more and more with this knocking. You wouldnt have thought 20000 miles of relatively easy driving would cause this. Sorry for fetchin up an old post as well :)
 
Ah well I guess there is an advantage with my funny old 185/60-15 wheels and tyres....

Better when I hit a pothole :D
