When looking in euros etc there is just so many different sizes. Anybody clear up the correct disc and pad size for my?

2003 LC - BG53 LZF

Am I correct in saying the fronts are 312mm and rears are 232mm?

The brake pads are confusing me slightly as ECP website is giving different part names like Teves, Lucas etc. for the braking system. Also are mine sensors? Anybody shed some light?

Never had so much problems looking for brake discs and pads before!

ZRZ, the petrol Cupra (facelift) has 312mm vented front & 232mm solid rear.

The diesel Cupra / FR HAS 288mm vented front & 232mm solid rear.
The Cupra R has 323mm vented front & 256mm vented rear.

Hi John, yeah you can bolt on the discs and calipers but if you go for the TT calipers then you will need to fit 6mm spacers to the calipers.

I've got 20mm spacers but they don't fit, they fit in my hub and bolt in but my alloys don't line up with the the spacer holes? Not sure what brakes they are I'll get back to you, I've seen them tho and the discs look like the fronts there massive and the rear calipers are triple the size of the standerd ones

You could upgrade to the 256mm vented rears, from either a LCR or Golf Anniversary 1.8T. 4WD cars such as MK1 TT/S3, Golf V6, Golf R32 have 256mm vented rears also but to fit their brakes to a front wheel drive car 6mm spacers are needed. You'd also need to either swap the existing rear splash shields for bigger ones or cut the edge off. The rear splash shields are hard to remove as the mounting bolts are obscured by the hub.

Cool, had no idea about that. One more way of avoiding that issue of people having issues fitting the AWD 256 rear brakes and having to faff about with 6mm spacers

Stock rear brakes on all FWD Leons except Cupra R are 232mm, solid.

Cupra R and 4WD Audi TT have 256mm, vented.

To fit 256mm rear brakes from a 4WD to a FWD Leon, a spacer is needed to push the caliper carrier 6mm outwards:

There are many producers, some do it in aluminium, others in steel. Steel is better, it won't corrode as aluminium mounted on steel does in salty environments. N & M Performance Parts (eBay: nandmperformanceparts ) is based in the UK and provides rather cheaply a spacer made from cadmium-plated steel.

All calipers (indeed, all Seat rear calipers from 1991 to 2006) use the same pad.

To keep the original caliper, there are 4 options:

239x9 mm disc - Skoda Octavia 1.8T/150 4WD, pre-facelift
Fits on the same caliper, needs the 6mm spacer to move the caliper outwards.
Gain in braking torque about 3%.

280x9mm disc - Eurospec Sport EBK 698 280 G/J4 RE
Fits on the same caliper, comes with own spacer to mount the caliper carrier.
Gain in braking torque about 26%

308x9mm disc - ECS Tuning ES#803.
Fits on the same caliper, comes with own spacer to mount the caliper carrier.
Gain in braking torque about 41%

330x9mm disc - Tarox KMVW0540
Fits on the same caliper, comes with own spacer to mount the caliper carrier.
Gain in braking torque about 53%.
Does not fit the 16" spare wheel, needs at least 17".

For the ventilated disc system (caliper + carrier + hubs / spacers) there are: stock 256mm, first oversize 280x22mm, larger ECS 306x22mm, then Tarox 330x22mm.

Own experience:

Had to change my rear brake discs (>133000kms / >82000 miles, heavily worn). On Brembo Max discs (coated and slotted, no drills) prices for 232mm and 239mm solid discs were similar.

Asked for a set of 239mm discs. Already had a steel 6mm spacer kit for an older project. All other original parts fit by design.
When fitted, the dust shield has to be bent back with pliers.
The gain in brake torque is insignificant. Advantage is mostly looks: by having a slightly bigger disc and moving it outwards to the wheel, they don't look as ridiculously puny as stock 232mm.

5 Stud Front Vented 323mm x 28mm
5 Stud Rear Vented 256mm x 22mm

Will these fit on my Leon Cupra R 1M 2003?

And what is the x28mm/x22mm reffering too? Looking at buying a set of these vented and drilled, but similar to ZRZ, it's a bit confusing.

Richly, these should be fine as long as the 5 stud pattern is quoted as "5 x100". The other sizes you ask for refer to the thickness of the disc itself ( 323mm diameter X 28mm thick) ;)

Do I need wear sensors? Looking to get my front discs and pads changed. Reading this I found I need 312mm pads but does it matter who makes the pads? Brembo pads and Pagid discs will play nicely together?
