Leaving home/coming home lights....confused

Hello all
I've activated everything I need to on vcds and I can get my leaving home lights to work but not my coming home lights, when I go out to my car I operate my remote and my lights come in for 10 seconds, when I get out of my car and operate my remote nothing happens????
My car seems to be the type that it DOESN'T need the lights to be on for leaving home to work, any ideas?
It's a seat leon 1P (mk2)
This is what I've activated in Central Electronics
Channel 001: Coming-Home Time
Time which the Coming-Home function will be active.
Range: 10...60 Seconds
Resolution: 10 Seconds
Note: Only active if Byte 00 Bit 7 of Long Coding active.
Channel 002: Leaving-Home Time
Time which the Leaving-Home function will be active.
Range: 10...60 Seconds
Resolution: 10 Seconds
Note: Only active if Byte 00 Bit 5 of Long Coding active.

Coming home function only activates if you flash your lights before getting out of the car, weird I know.

When you say flash lights do you mean like you would to acknowledge someone?
Would I do this with engine off and keys out of ignition?

Yes, as if you were acknowledging someone.

If definitely works if you turn the engine off, flash the lights, then pull the key out if the ignition.

I haven't tested it a lot, only to check it did work.
