Anyone figure out how to leave the engine / car running while the driver gets out?
For example, I have my dog in the car or a passenger and I have to go out to buy something or whatever.. if I'm gone for more than 30 seconds to 1 minute (even if I leave the seatbelt buckled and the key inside) the car just shuts down and so does the aircon.. when it's 40Celsius outside, If I'm missing for 5-10 minutes I want to be able to leave it on for the passenger or dog. Same for the cold weather (it gets to -10 Celsius here).

Can you not switch off the stop/start system ?
I don't think I can.. I saw some tutorial on YouTube where you push the Power button of the infotainment for 1 second and it gives you 3 options, 1 being the start stop. Mine doesn't have that (I think). Maybe because it's the hybrid model and not the fully gas one..

The thing is that, as far as I know, stop / start keeps the car on but shuts down the engine. When I leave the car it shuts down the car completely , with the goodbye screen. I have to push the start engine button again, select the drive mode again and so on... very frustrating

Mine's a hybrid too. If I'm in the car and switch it off, and before the screens go blank, I can restart the aircon on the infotainment screen and the screen will stay on whilst I remain in the car. Some functions will only work with the ignition on but aircon & radio for instance remain active.
If I leave the car and lock it everything shuts down, but then I can activate the aircon using the CUPRA Connect app. Seems to work OK.

Yep, like Dave said!
The hybrids have this functionality (not sure about non-hybrids).

Just click the top left climate button when you turned the ignition off and you can keep the aircon running for 30 minutes (it shuts off automatically after 30).

Hi, I have recently got a hybrid, and this is one thing that is bugging me. I have a manual gate to my property, so I have to stop the car, get out to open the gate, move the car forward. Stop the car and get out to close the gate, and obviously same procedure on return. The car will not allow me to merely place in park with the brake on, and leave the vehicle without switching the ignission off (the car is in electric mode as it has just started). It is only a small issue, but it is bugging me to hell! Am I missing something here?

kevinb If the key is in the car can't you just get out and open or close the gate? Your car should be in auto hold once stationary, or put the handbrake on. Sure it will beep at you as soon as you open the door but as long as no one is likely to jump in and drive off with your car it shouldn't be a problem. I've not tried this BTW so if someone knows any different please let us know.

I have the same experience as Kevin. The auto ignition off is so incredibly short. Usually the timing is perfect, so when emptying my mailbox or something else RIGHT next to the car, it turns off the ignition just as I am about to hop back in. Cheeky *******

I've been looking at command lines in OBDeleven to extend the timing, but no luck so far. Maybe I should take another look

Yes, tried today to leave ignition on and it just turns itself off very quickly.

I guess there must be sensors in the drivers seat then? Looks like the fix for you Kevin is to automate your gate. Or get the passenger to open/close the gate for you ;).

Ok. I will bite.....Isnt it illegal to leave the car with the engine running in the UK (on a public road)?
Yes it is.

Gate is a long way from power, it opens onto a non public right of way where I live in Portugal. I'll learn to live with it unless the wife is in the car?

Yes it is.
Does it need a seatbelt inserted? can't remember if it is 'bum on seat' or seat belt that activates the passenger and rear aircons sure it will be same sensing for ignition will try when my wife brings the car back later

Had the start/stop deactivated, as always do when I drive the car, activated the electronic handbrake, exited the car, came back after a couple of minutes (had to go into a store, my wife still in the car), the car was still running.

I always deactivate stop/start in my VW, and the engine keeps running while I exit my car to open my garage door to put my car away.

put the seatbelt on, left the key in the car, car on neutral, parking break engaged. left the car. turned off after 30 seconds I don't have the option to deactivate start/stop on the hybrid model

Didn't know on hybrids you cannot deactivate the start/stop. I guess it goes with their eco friendly plus nature.

Anyone figured this out? It is getting very annoying especially now in the winter with snow. I’m trying to leave the heating on for the cabin, seat, steering wheel, back window and side mirrors while i clean the car of snow and it can’t be done.
