Hi

I have a 2012 model year 1.6 diesel Altea XL with the DSG gearbox, the car came as standard no extras.

I would like to convert all the lighting over to LEDs, if possible.

Head Lights, Main and dip. Side Lights, indicator, reversing, brake and rear fog, and all the inside lights.

I would also like to convert the fog lights over to DRL Leds as in 3 years of driving the Altea I have only used the fog lights once.

Would anyone have part numbers or links as where to buy and if possible.

Would any conversion over to LED lights be breaking UK laws?

Thanks in advance Mike.

Well, Mike...
- The interior bulbs can all be swapped for LED. There's at least one thread on here or on the Mk.2 Leon forum. Also number plate bulbs.
- There's a German outfit that does proper conversion kits, including wiring for fog to DRL. You can eieher have a smaller foglamp with DRL surround, or all DRL.
- Think you can also get side repeater units that contain 3x LED markers.
- There are also threads where folk have put high power CREE LED's into the fog and reversing lamps.
- The main rear clusters, I think are impossible to change for a number of reasons.
- Don't know what the front/headlamp options are.
- And obviously, getting the CANBUS to accommodate the much lower current draw of LED's is the main headache.

Make sure the LEDs are canbus compliant or you may get error codes
