Leon 1.2TSi induction kit/panel filter?

I am ordering a new leon 1.2TSi SE Copa this week and have about a 3 month wait while the car is being built!
Ive been looking at the k&n website today and they have the panel filter and 57i induction kit however, the panel filter is a round element kind of like the filter for the induction kit and the induction kit has an airbox?
Surely the filter element in the original box will work exactly the same and costs half the price?
Anybody on here put an air filter/induction kit on their tsi? Any improvements in acceleration? Does it make the car loud? etc?

the panel fitler wont change the sound. the 57i will but will suffer from heat soak. the airbox is the 57s which has a cold air intake pipe but as its in a box it wont sound any different. best to get the 57i and build a heat shield. doubt the 1.2 is restricted by the oem but you never know might make 2bhp more... (but its sound your after really)

My mistake sorry the induction kit i was looking at was the k&n in a box. I dont understand the point of spending all that money on the k&n inductuon kit though when you can buy the k&n element for half the price and its going to do exactly the same job as they would both be in a box in the same part of the engine bay?!
I just wondered being a turbo engine if it would help it to breath a bit easier and give a bigger increase in power than a standard n/a engine?

you probably get a larger surface area with the K&N in a box than your oem box, but it is pointless as it makes it quiet, losing the main point of an induction kit imo. The larger displacement engines like the 2.0tsi are restricted by the oem box, and maybe yours is too, i dont know unfortunatley. I do know that you wont get a noise with just the filter.

I havent looked into it but arent there any others than K&N, maybe something cheaper as the gains in performance over sound may be negligable.
