Leon Cupra 300 Stolen ☹️

Hi guys, I had my 300 stolen on Thursday morning but did get it recovered later in the day ? not too bad condition either. They broke in to the house to get the key. It’s now down at the dealership waiting for a whole new lock and key set. I want to buy some deterrents and on my list is a steering wheel lock but I don’t know the size of it. Can anyone help please? Many thanks

I’d look into getting a GHOST immobiliser fitted , even with the keys they won’t be able to take the car without the secret combination code entered using the OEM buttons .

We install them on most of the higher end cars we sell and ones that are commonly stolen

At £499 there probably the best thing you could buy along with a tracker although won’t need a tracker when they can’t even get it started or into gear ?

Funny you should mention that as I’ve already contacted a local specialist to fit a Ghost2 immobiliser ?

Sorry to see this Bob! Bloody awful, I have no idea what the wheel size is, however I know a couple of chaps in the car security trade and apparent the Ghost Immobiliser is very easy to bypass and no longer recommended for security.
Your best bet is to look at something far more secure like Pandora or alike!

It blocks the can network. It can’t be bypassed you would have to locate it and cut the wires.

It’s tiny no bigger than a memory stick and if installed correctly ( don’t install it where the data sheet tells you , a good fitter will find a different place )

They would have to spend ages looking for it and then removing it , by then it could take them hours to locate and remove .


Also they come with a guarantee against theft providing it was installed at time of theft

Most thieves will give up and run when it doesn’t start .

In my opinion yes it was hitonthechin that said it wasn’t ,
I’ve installed over 20 this year and never had any bad feedback or issues ,

Everybody I guess has their own option but i think there good

Like any security device it’s only as good as the installation

Sorry to here of your bother, my Leon is fitted with a Disklok (small 39cm) and fits perfectly. It is fiddly to use but the best on the market and needs lots of effort & noise to defeat. It is around £140 now, but as you can read online the best mechanical lock you can have, thieves just walk on by. Had it on my Cupra 280 for 8 years before the VZ2 and no removal attempts made.

I personally haven't used or had issue with Ghost, it was just recent feedback I have been given from 2 friends who are in the car security industry (no affiliation to either brand), who said they are being bypassed more frequently nowadays. And as you say I think that mechanism may have been through cutting wires, and indeed this could be done to poor installation, I can't comment on this one.

Just sharing information from trusted friends, so other can do their own research on the market

Had the Ghost 2 fitted and I’m using an old fashioned steering lock too. I can sleep a lot better at night now. It’s rather annoying that manufacturers don’t fit this kind of security (ghost 2 immobiliser) as standard ??
