Beat me to it - just Googled Leon Cupra K1 (again!) and suddenly there are loads of sites featuring the K1 - see http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/02/2008-seat-leon-cupra-240-hp-k1-limited.html - same photo's actually but a decent write up and onward links to other Cupra Reviews. Now really can't wait to take delivery !

I can see the appeal but it's a long way from the old top of the range LCR styling, a shame really.

ive just registered www.cuprak1.com if any one wants to buy off me... ive pointed it to this forum :) hehe (should update in 24 hours)

admin pm me if you want to do a deal

As others have said I think it looks gash from behind.

Pics of the one at Seat Bristol in the launch review on the main site.

I think it looks gash from the front too. Still dont understand why they have false air vents in the bumpers. Pointless and ugly IMO.

As someone above pointed out, they should have had a Cupra only kit that did not include ugly fake vents that no other model in the Leon range could ever have.

Weird that the top line model kit can be had on any other model in the range. This is not possible for;

Golf GTi
Astra VXR
Focus ST
Renault Megane Sport

Even on older models, especially popular ones, it was not possible;

Escort Cosworth
Lancia Delta Integrale
Leon Cupra R
Mitsubishi Lancer Evoultion

As it is, the Cupra and FR are hard to tell apart to the untrained eye, but now the K1 looks like any other Leon with the Aero kit with the exception of the ripped off centre exhaust.

As I mentioned in another post, the K1 would have been much more popular if SEAT took a leaf out of the likes of Vauxhall and Renalts book and given the K1;

LSD
Brembo Brakes
Aftermarket exhaust
Tuning options
Better centre part of dash to get rid of the nasty plastic and buttons - add in a boost gauge for example.

Guess this is what happens when you let marketing people in suits call the shots without speaking to the people that have bought and are likely to buy the car.

If I was buying again, I would have a standard Cupra and add Xenons, skirts and spoiler. Just don't like the bumpers on that kit.

Don't worry, we rank top of google for most things, we've proven before that URL's don't generate traffic

good luck with the sale :blink:
tell me about it ! just thought it might be a good little domain to have to my collection ! :)

might just stick it on a pay per click thing and see what traffic it gets before auctioning it

You could always start your own forum, but you might need to get a K1 Cupra yourself :lol:

Not really relevant but I'm sure you can kit up a poverty spec astra with the VXR fittings if you're mad enough.

It is though mate - My point is that the Aero kit is a dealer fit option.

You could not fit a GTi kit as a dealer fit option to a poverty spec Golf just as you couldnt get an ST kit on a bottom of the range Focus or a VXR kit on a Astra Club. Yes you could buy all the bits separately, but it is not pushed in the same way SEAT push the Aero kit.

Fair enough, I just read in Evo ages ago when the VXR first came out that you could spec it as an option. May be bollocks though as it's not on the site.

I agree with you though, not sure why the didn't create a Cupra specific kit a la the LCR, the only thing that is notably specific is the K1 badge.

A Limited Edition in my mind should be an improvement on the base model and have attributes that actually stand out i.e. like the 30bhp increase on the Mk5 Golf GTi 30 Edition over the standard Mk5 GTi.

I've never really been sure of the Mk2 Leon's styling and so unsurprisingly I think the K1 is a bit of a cop-out from SEAT. I'd rather pay extra money on a K1 if SEAT released the model with a performance and/or handling upgrade instead of just a body-kit and repositioned exhaust, which I don't find that desirable enough to pay extra for.
