Hi there, I have a 2007 leon cupra 2.0 tfsi K04, I had my car plugged in today as ive had a engine misfire problem occur last night, anyway there was 2 codes on the system and one is regarding the oil temperature sensor, see below:

000406
P0196 - ENGINE OIL TEMP SENSOR (G8) - IMPLAUSIBLE SIGNAL

Does anyone know where this sensor is????

I recall that most VAGs only have this fitted when they has a oil level sensor fitted to the sump, which the CUPRA BWJ engine does not have fitted from the factory!

The question is does this engine have a sensor or is the ECU looking for something that was never fitted and why is it not aware of this??

Any help is much appreciated, if it does have a sensor can anyone point out where it is located as I have another vehicle I can swap it with to test it.

Thanks

I didn't think you would have an oil temp sensor on 2007 car, mines in my oil sump

Ok thanks guys, this confirms what I already thought, 2 different code readers bring up the same fault, I think the ECU must have the option of the sensor enabled rather than disabled.

Could this have anything to do with the car having been mapped, maybe has edited the sensor options????
