Hi. I have the normal coolant flange leak. Does anyone know why all the parts I can find have a different configuration for the rear pipe. Mine comes out in line with the block. All others I've seen while trying to buy a new one are facing towards the rear of the car. I bought one like that and can alter the hose but wondered if any one can enlighten me?

I replaced mine with the aluminium upgrade kit and like all the others you've seen the pipe comes off the back and not the side. Very strange. My advice would be to take it off and google the part number. It will be your best bet for finding that exact variant and save you having to buy a different pipe. Although like you said, worst case scenario you just get a pipe to suit the different style. Hope this helps.

Also, when you google the part number it might scratch that itch you have of why it's different. came off a different car/model, audi a4 etc.

Thanks good idea. How is you Ali one working out? Fit ok etc?
Mine is definitely the original. It was one owner from new 100% standard and the hose to it looks it too. Got the markings on and the little lines to align it etc. Mine a 2006 on a 55. The guy said pretty much last ones sold before the mk2.

Working out great. I got the cheap set off ebay a couple of years back, about half the price of the set from awesome gti. There were a couple of small imperfections inside of them, excess material etc, but doesn't effect how it works. I suppose you can file them inside here and there but I never felt the need too. Way better than the plastic ones for sure. As mine were old and brittle.

Cool. I'd looked at them for a while so may go for it
