Does anybody know when the ST Cupra R will be released in the UK. I'm looking to purchase a 4drive but may wait for the R depending on price.
Also what are the best companies price wise for buying or leasing a new 'normal' Cupra 300 ST 4drive?
Thanks in advance.

Can't see that ever happening, would make it quicker than the golf R and s3 and VAG won't do that

The new model has been widely reported in the motoring press. It is supposed to be released sometime this year.
I'd like to know if it's going to be a limited edition the same as the hatchback R or standard i.e unlimited availability and what the price difference is going to be compared to the 300 ST 4drive.

Unless they are going to upgrade the golf and s3 to get the max number of sales out of the car before the bring in the replacement models (EG MK8 Golf and MK4 Leon)

With a brand new Leon out next year I can't see them doing a version with that kinda power, we will more then likely see something like a black edition to clear out left over stock like with the 290 but that's about it

I wouldn't exactly call it "widely reported" in the press. Google shows up only a couple of matching results, all of which in fact point to just one: the statement of SEAT's sales and marketing boss to AutoExpress about a ST Cupra R mule but nothing else has been made known about it since November which is kinda strange.

Also, going by typical VAG policy, I can't see how SEAT would be allowed to roll out a variant of the current gen with more power (let alone 30bhp more) than the Golf R and Audi S3. Even the halo Cupra R is merely matching the Golf and S3's bhp, and that happened after those cars had already been released.

I am potentially also in the market for a 4Drive (a very low mileage used one) and an R version surely would appeal but I just don't see it possible, hope I'm wrong. Oh and If it also had those copper bling details like the hatch-back it'd be definitely a no-no from me.

Personally I wish they would do a Cupra 300 4drive 3 door

But then that would eat too much of their overpriced S3 and Golf R 3 door market

Exactly, people would jump all over it and for that it won't happen. The problem is they've already got to (or past even) the point that the power levels are still manageable by FWD so AWD must come as a necessity sooner or later.

Getting the mk4 Cupra right (if still FWD) should be tricky with at least 330-340bhp (if Golf R/S3 are near the 340-350 mark).

I don't think I'd be interested in a 4WD 3 or 5 door. The front drive is so good in our climate I'd be sacrificing too much just to have a bit more traction, and 1/2 sec quicker to 100, a very small amount of the time.

In NZ I would probably not bother either but here in the UK we deffo have more wet/damp days than good dry days.

True that. Poor buggers.

But don't think we're tropical, we had 6 weeks of great weather up till New Year. We've paid for it since. Still warm though.
