Hey everyone!

I've just done some researching through my booklets I have for the Leon of mine as I was curious to know what engine I have in the car.

I have seen a lot of people putting up things like AUQ, BAM, ASV, AVF, AWX... I don't have a clue what they are, what they mean or what differences they have with one another.

The booklet I have with a sticker and a load of random bits of information on it, I will try to post up a picture soon but still trying to get my post count up!

It states on there the following information

From that I take it I have an ASV engine, what engines do most of you prefer to have or prefer to stay away from? I can't remember which post it was I was reading a few days ago but I know I recall someone saying a particular engine was rare to come by?

I was also reading a thread concerning PD and non PD engines, from what I can tell mine is non PD ^^ What I don't get is whether that is a good thing, a bad thing or not worth thinking about haha! :D

All i know is, if your engine code is BAM, your gonna have a good time!

Pd = pump diesel, or diesel pump, #germangrammerisbullshit, it jus refers to the pd diesels, pd110, 130 and 150. Which is the bhp of the engine. But within that there are more models, ie, my own pd150 is an ARL engine code.

I think they did non pd engines, which were earlier diesels, but theyre a different model, and i dont think any seats have them, more a vw thing.

In regards to the spec sticker, all those codes specify the actual spec of the car from factory, they refer to if the car has air con or wat type of gearbox it has etc.

Thank you for the quick response Tessitura mate! :)

I personally have no idea on what is what with that sticker haha, apart from it stating that it is from stock an ASV engine :D

From what I'm gathering from a quick search, BAM is a Cupra engine, 225 BHP?

I'm getting to understand the engine codes a little now though, BAM and AMK seem to be the more sought after engines for the big boys, AMK from a little searching around seems to be the go to choice for money considering insurance group, cost for the engine itself and after a stage 1 remap according to what I'm reading it gives off the same performance?

I've no need to engine swap, or at least I hope not yet or any time in the near future haha! :)

Again, thank you for the quick response mate! :)
