Hello all, i'm looking for opinions on this! I put my 56 plate 170 fr into Seat on Friday last week to have the injectors replaced through the recall put out by Seat, up until this point the car has never been in a garage for a repair apart from servicing (all up to date), tyres and brakes. I got the car back later that day, felt it was running well and more responsive than before. On Sunday and after using the car for around 40 miles it cut out and wouldn't start. Luckily a passenger was a member of one of our road side recovery services, when he arrived a few things were tested, he checked the injector switching and said it was not correct and possibly that was the fault. He also noticed the timing belt cover wasn't on correctly but put that down to Seat working on the injectors.

The car was taken back to Seat on Monday and looked at yesterday, I got a phone call from them yesterday afternoon telling me the camshaft position sensor was faulty and it was nowhere near the area they were working in, purely coincidence! The repair would be £470.

Is this just a coincidence or would it be possible to damage the sensor whilst working on the vehicle?

Seems somebody else has also had problems with this recall then!! I got mine back and within a couple of hours the EML came on, electrical fault on the glowplug.
Took it back (50 mile round trip) and they fixed that, only for me to then find they had buggered the rocker cover or something and it wsa pissing oil out everywhere! So back up again (another 50 mile round trip), plus having to pay 25 quid in oil costs just to get enough in to drive it to the dealers.

Shocking really.

I had mine in last week and like you said, car runs much better ( seems to anyway) but all is fine after visit, sounds a little coincidental to me though...........

hope all comes good in the end

I have sympathy for you all. Anybody who deals with your car obviously won't treat it with the care and attention yourself would to your own car.

I always think the worse when car goes in and just hope they do what's expected am paying for to the best standards as possible.

You never know what there upto with your car when it's there!

Purely a coincidence Silver Surfer? I don't wanna go in all guns blazing and look a right tit! I have a few mates vw techs and they did say exactly what you have said about the position of the sensor but they thought after 30 mins of driving time out the garage it was hard to believe the sensor would just pack in without reason!

Cheers for all the replies!!
