hey guys the silver ring that is around my gear know is chipped in a few places. its the same silver thats around the bottom of the gatior and the dash surround. dose anyone know if this can be got ina touch up?? i was also thinking of painting it the same red as the car?? what ye think??

There are threads on here about removing the gearnob etc - it does seem quite OTT though and is not as easy as just removing the nob part unfortunatly! I was thining of doing the same with mine but have never got round to it

I changed mine as the paint was flakeing, it only took about 10mins all in. Not that hard to do.

although trouble with this guide is that its for replacing an entire gear nob rather than removing parts of the nob itself

if its the same as the knob in my car its easy to take apart.
what i used was 2 small flat screw drivers a philips screwdriver. take one flat driver and push it under the ring and try lift up the plastic where the gears numbers are. when you lift it work the other in and flip it off. undo the philips screw and presto!!!n

I got one brand new off ebay 2 days ago for £27...

Yeah, I thought the same until it arrived, the silver doesnt match the rest of the mk1 trim.

Looks like youve done a good job there even tho its not my personal cup of tea. My cars black so that explains that
Did you disassemble the knob to spray just the ring ? If not youve done a quality job masking off.
