Hi,

I've took delivery of my new leon last week & am extremely happy with it.

It's just an observation around the "day running lights"! I took the LED optional extra so I do have them on mine but when I asked the main dealer they said they come standard on the FR model, which I thought was the case.

Although I've now seen 3 other new Leon FR's that didn't have the DRL! Or the LED optional extra! Looks like they aren't standard & you only get the DRL if u have the LED option?!? Is this the case??

All cars type approved after 07 February 2011 must have DRL's by law. Since the Leon Mk 3 is a new model it will have been type approved after this date.

Even my lowly SE has DRLs fitted.

Did u have the tech pack or LCD option? I've seen 3 without any!

Just a note on the law. The new Ibiza doesn't come with DRL, it's an after market add on, only for fr models.

Totally standard car, no options. Without DRL's the car would not be legal to use on the road.

The owners of those 3 cars must have removed the bulbs or disabled them somehow.

Odd as the literature says its only standard on fr models.

Someone at my work place has the 5dr Leon without LED lights it still has driving lights they are just standard bulbs rather than the LED arrow heads.

Yes, i think theres a misunderstanding here.

The LED DRLs are part of the LED headlight upgrade or technology pack. They are not standard on any model even tho the tech pack is currently free to private buyers.

All Leons have DRLs but if you dont have LEDs then it will just be the sidelights or normal headlight bulbs on. On my wifes Polo R Line, the DRLs are the headlights and sidelights! It was a real bugger to figure out turning off the headlights as DRLs but I got there eventually!

They cant even be turned off using VCDS!!
