Hi, I thought I'd post up my experience having got loads of help reading old posts on the forum!
I was noticing boost not coming in til over 2000 rpm and then on a long drag putting my foot down at about 65mph in 5th limp mode kicked in. Restarted engine and it was back to normal. Looking at the advice of things that can cause limp mode I started by cleaning the turbo with the Mr muscle treatment and took off the egr valve cleaning out tonnes of crap that had built up!
This didn't work to solve the limp mode...
A garage quoted 30quid to diagnose so I bought the cable from gendan and used vcds lite to find the fault code 17964 - charge pressure control :negative deviation.
This lead me to look for leaks on all boost pipes and then vacuum hoses. The culprit was a vacuum hose near the egr which had come out of its clip and rubbed against something causing a massive hole!
You can see the area here near the egr valve (I'd taken the hose off)
And the hose where it was:
It's the hose going down to the turbo actuator from the n75. Here's the giant hole!
It was hidden behind the hose but If I'd have run my hand along the hoses I would have found it much earlier. Anyway, fitted a new hose and it's driving much better than it has for ages!
So thanks to the forum!
