Leon Mk1 Euro Emmisions

Hi,

I was just wondering, does anyone who owns / has owned a 2006 registered Leon Mk1 diesel know if they have a Euro 3 or Euro 4 emissions standard engine. From what I've read cars registered from 2006 onwards are supposed to be Euro 4 but perhaps there was a grace period, as I can't see any Mk1 models listed on the Parkers site with a Euro 4 engine.

2006 reg does not necessarily mean 2006 manufacture, could have been sitting unregistered for a while, but assuming 2005-2006 manufacture, likely engines are all Euro 3.

Do you know what engine you have?

ARL (TDI 150) - Euro 3
ASZ (TDI 130) - Euro 3
ASV (TDI 110) - Euro 3
AXR TDI 100) - Euro 3

Older engines, which you are unlikely to find.

ALH (TDI 90) - D3
AGR (TDI 90)
AHF (TDI 110) - Euro 2

No Mk1 Leons were manufactured after 2005.

Online evidence (shaky, I know) seems to indicate some manufacture in 2006, although perhaps not extending to Model Year 2006. Still, I reckon this is a 2005 car registered in 2006, and has a Euro 3 compliant engine.

That would mean they would have built the Mk1 and Mk2 on the same production line though? I thought they basically had to close for a week to retool for the Mk2?

Thanks for the replies, perhaps I was just getting too hung up on the term registered, there's a page on the RAC site that says any cars registered from the 1st of January 2006 on-wards should be Euro 4 compliant, but it sounds like that may not apply to a Mk1 Leon if it was built before then.

Wikipedia says
Factory production of the Typ 1M ended in May 2006.
The second generation León, Typ 1P, was released in 2005, with factory production commencing May 2005.
So for that to be true they must have been produced side by side for a year. Martorell is a very large facility and I suspect they have more than one production line in the plant, or possibly, with proper automated delivery of parts to the line, the ability to produce more than one type of car at a time.
