Leon Mk2 rear side/brake lights bright

Hi new to the Forum.

We've just purchased my wife's third Leon Mk2 a 12 plate FR, last with hidden rear door handles. Following her home I noticed both of the rear outer side lights were very bright, when she braked there was very little difference. It's under warranty and we were advised by the garage we purchased it from to take it to a Seat dealer. This my wife has done this to be told 'there's no problem'. I'm not happy with that answer and will take a look at what the canbus is doing. Has anybody else seen this problem/feature?

have never noticed it before on any other seats or my own but there should be a feature in vcds where you can turn down the brightness of the outer tail lights!
i think if i remember correctly its named "Rear brake light as parking light" and its usually around 20%.. it sits in "09-Cent, Elec"

you could try checking in vcds if the % is higher than that, and go lower og try 10 instead of 20% if that helps

i may be wrong but im nearly 90% sure i have seen it while jumping around in vcds on my own car. never tried to change it though.

I've just picked up a 62 plate SE Copa... am I right in saying they and maybe the FR have LED lights on the back? They are like an L shape? Maybe that's to do with it?

Also to be a n00b what's vcds? Is that like in car menu or vag-com?

Was just looking at this Carista stuff as I fancy changing a few settings and seems you can do some using that rather than vag-com

Yea, VAG-COM is a rather expensive gear if you only need it "once or to change a few features" and theres definitely a lot of competitors on the market, but all other seems to be limited in features, and VAG-COM is the software used by most people as it is also easy to use

My mate maps VAG dervs and has vag-com so probably get him to do it (and maybe look at getting it mapped at some point )

There's a couple of things I'd like to add on like chirp on lock/unlock, speed in mph in the MFD and maybe needle sweep too. Seems you can do most of what I want with Carista.

Mine is a 2012 mk2 so hopefully should have the needle sweep, need to figure out how the sav-nav works then and if I can update that.

I can't see an SD card in the slot tho so not sure how it works! I know I've got the media 2.2

Then you should have no problem getting the gauge test/ needle sweep

No experience with oem sat-nav I use to pull oem navi out and insert aftermarket because I love the extra features it opens with Android at your finger tips

Thanks for all the replies.

The Leon is the last of the Mk2's so has a 21W bulb on the Canbus. I'll take a look and see if it can be turned down using Vagcom.
