After looking at a good few cars I've decided I'm going to go for a Seat Leon 1.9 TDI Stylance, as it's a great looking car with the fuel economy I require just now.

One thing leaves me puzzled though. Having looked at the Seat site there is nothing to tell you what's in the convenience pack or winter pack. I guess the winter pack is heated seats and heated windscreen washers but what's in the convenience pack?

Also is the What Car target price in any way realistic to what I could get a dealer down too? There doesn't seem to be any pre-reg deals for the 1.9TDI around my area (Glasgow), just the 1.6 petrol engine.

Not sure actually. It comes with steering wheel mounted audio controls, but not sure about anything else.

How is the sensitivity of the auto wipers? I've heard a few complaints from friends who have them on other makes of vechiles. I'm trying to figure out what my best options are for getting things factory fitted before I get the car.

At the moment I'm sure about the paint, ipod connection and winter pack (mainly for the heated windscreen jets), but I'm unsure about the convenience pack. I was told that the Ipod kit will work with a Nano, can anyone confirm this and is the sound quality any good?

IMO the convenience pack is superb.

The auto lights come on when expected, the wipers can be adjusted for sensitivity and have worked flawlessly from the start & the real bonus was the auto dimming rear view mirror, this was something I wasn't aware of when I got the vehicle & it is excellent.
I have the heated seats (I didn't have the option of the winter pack when I ordered my car) & they are superb as well.
I have the ipod connection & tbh I was dissapointed [:@] because Seat didn't advise that I would lose the aux connection by opting for this & I don't have an Ipod atm!
Oh & go for the bluetooth option if you want the cruise control light and the washer fluid level light to be displayed on the dash!

Not convinced about washer fluid level. I have this option and get cruise light, but not sure about washer low... However, it was snowing rather heavy when i ran out, and i was expecting it to come on the MFD not on the dash itself as a little light...

Thanks for the Bluetooth tip. I didn't know that about the extra dashboard lights, which could be useful.

Anyone had any success haggling their dealer over the price. I've been monitoring the price for a while and hope to get £1000 knocked off the list price, which would be slighty less than WhatCar suggest. Although their RRP is out of date so I'm not sure how reliable their target price actually is?

Oh and the book says:

iPod with 20, 30, 40 and 60Gb
iPod mini
iPod nano
iPod photo with 60Gb
iPod video with 30, 60 Gb
iPod special edition

are all compatible

iPod shuffle and iPod photo with 30Gb CANNOT BE USED, nor devices by other brands.

there is no mention of the iPod video 80Gb...

Disclaimer - I MAY BE MAKING THIS UP AND MAY NOT CONVEYING THE WHOLE TRUTH, SO PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DEALER BEFORE YOU BUY AND DON'T RELY ON WHAT I'VE JUST WRITTEN TO OPT FOR THIS FEATURE!!! ;-) Seriously, they might change the spec on newer cars so this info might only be correct on mine...

Definitely go for the Bluetooth especially with the new rules on mobile phones! id stick with the normal AUX socket. I have a iPod dock connector in my car and my sister has normal AUX in hers and i proffer it that way as you still have control over the ipod and other bits can be plugged in!

- Im using my ipod 80GB with the Dension ice link that I ordered with my car, think this is still what is being offered as the ipod connection option. Apart from being a bit slow to react it works fine :)

Ok, so now I have metallic paint, bluetooth, winter pack and conveniece pack on my list, but now I'm unsure about the ipod connection.

I take it you can just plug the ipod straight in to the AUX and work it through that going on your post. If so what's the point/benefit of the connection kit? The only experience I've had of this is the crappy radio transmitter thing I tried in my old car that tuned the ipod to an unused radio band, but I gave up on it as the interferance was pretty appauling meaning the sound quality was dire.

Ditch the metallic - Red, Yellow & White are by far the best, eye catching colours on the new Leon at no extra cost. I'm torn between the red and yellow at the mo. All metallics blend in to society.. Go bright, announce to the country you have the smartest 5 door car on the planet. Obviously i'm biased! LOL
My list is:
Crono Leon FR 170
Winter Pack
Convenience Pack
18"s
USB Socket
£16,776
Deal Negotiator

I've gone for the USB so I can play files direct from my laptop!!

Ordering as soon as I sell the X-Trail
