ACTUAL PROGRESS FROM HERE:

After owning a 1.1 Saxo and a 1.6 Civic this seemed a good step up, like the VW build quality and the underrated appearance, and apparently the 16v are getting rare. Not sure if the previous owner is on the forum so I don't know if this is a recognised car.

The car came with coilovers, green stuff disks and pads, Remus back box and 16" Team Dynamics.

So far all I've done is a full detail, painted the calipers black, painted the wiper arms black, added some lifestyle stickers, some dice valve caps and some LED side lights.

I have a bee sting ariel for it to go on, some xenon headlamps, aero wiper blades, and some LED number plate bulbs.

Some recent pictures for you
Thanks

Looking really good mate!!. That is a really late registered one, Ive saw one 'V' Registered but not 'W' registered. And you are correct, the 16v are getting really really rare these days. Especially 'decent' examples.

I love you it is sitting at the front. ;). And the black painted wiper arms make a huge difference. And I like the backbox, different seeing a twin square rather than a twin round.

Any more plans for it?

Haha yea the last owner said it was a Seat Demo car apparently. Its certainly a great example at 88k

As for plans in the long run I aim for:

Straight through exhaust
4-2-1 Manifold
Remap
Aftermarket panel filter
Leathers
Decent ICE
Bit of a checkup, tracking that sort of thing
Paint correction where needed

Wow soooo shiney, Look good :)

Hey Clair! :p Cheers

What a stunning example of a motor mate. Mk2 nostalgia setting in for me now hehehehe

Thanks :)

very tidy car and welcome to the forum! looks like one of the last mk2 16v`s. make sure you look after it??;)

Thanks for the welcome, yep the only W reg ive ever seen, they are quite a rare car already. And ill do my best! :D

You've got a very rare beast here indeed, not only is it one of the very last 16v's but its specced up with the air conditioning which is rare as hens teeth on all MK2 GTi's 8 or 16v.

I'll keep my eyes on this thread I'm slowly getting ideas from all MK2 RR's for when mine is stripped down bit by bit and redone over the coming months.

Still gotta find a daily driver first though.

Thanks for the insight! Didn't know it was a rare feature.

Ive been having a nightmare though lately, absolutely no power whatsoever and the battery is fine. Either an immobiliser problem or a dodgy earth

Although I have fitted some aero wipers, xenon headlamps and rear bumper plate LED's :D

Very nice indeed! As Paul stated, very rare find with the air con! Unusual interior in it too, (by the looks of the doorcard insert). Really nice! Shame there's no twin chambered GTi headlights on it, apart from that, I can't see anything else to pick on haha! :) Keep us posted!

P.S - ang on, it has a KM/h speedometer? Import? :p

Cheers again, the door card has a small rupture in the plastic, other than that the interior is mint! I'm not to clued up but I think its just a 16v GTI. What do the twin chambered headlights look like btw?

As for the speedo, yes everything is in "euro's" :p Didn't know what the deal was, but the speedo is in MPH. Convert? Or dials replaced? I have to admit the trip computer readout doesn't seem to reflect the actual MPG I've been getting.

More pics :p

Yeah the Km/h speedos is a tad weird, but it looks pretty cool! :)

Ahh I see, they are like twin reflectors for sidelight/main sort of thing. THe last owner said he had both headlights replaced for some reason and if he was an idiot he would have used noraml Ibiza ones.

Ill get some pics up tomorrow of the new bits I've added then I guess there wont be much activity over here for a bit as ill be off to uni in a week down south :)

No signs of a bodge up after a crash on the front end is there? Just paranoid after I hunted for mine that's all :) ha! It's a really nice find though! Does it have service history etc? Decent mileage too? :p. I'll stop interrogating you after this, good luck with uni!

No actually its a really tidy example, seems honest under the hood :p Lots of service history, all the receipts for basically everything that's been done. And cheers yea I'm in my 2nd year of Automotive Design so I know my way around cars :p

Like this a lot mate, nice clean example :)

Thanks dude, good to hear appreciation :)

Totally agree on clear repeaters and the leathers are something I really want probably after christmas; one of he main things I was interested in. As for the wheels the colour is perfect, especially in the flesh, but they have been curbed a little by the previous owner so they could do with refurbishment unfortunately.
