My LCR already come with Hids installed, and they are 10-12k minimum, and for me they are far too purple for my liking,

I'd like then to be a crisp white or with blue tint so thinking 6k-8k

Forgive the noob question but Iv never dealt with or installed a hid kit

So can I just buy new replacement his bulbs at a lower rating or would i need to buy a whole new kit?

Thanks Matt

You should be fine with only bulbs, just make sure you buy bulbs for the correct wattage (either 35watt or 55 watt).

4300k = yellowish white
6000k = blueish white (which you will be wanting)

The higher the color temp, the less visible light.

Personally I'd say go for 6000k, I've had them on previous cars and found 6k is probably the best combination between looks and practicality.

I've had 8k as well but they looked far too blue for my tastes :(

I believe BMW Audi and others use 4300k as standard issue though although I maybe wrong.

Just make sure that you buy H7R bulbs for reflector lights else the beam pattern will be all over the place and may cause people to flash or may possibly affect your MOT

I had 6000k H7r when I first changed to hids, but ended up changing them to 4300k as I thought they looked a bit chavy, they where quite blue

4300k is standard colour temp for most factory fitted headlights in new cars

5000k might be worth a go if u want to keep a fairly low profile

Brilliant thanks for all replies guys, think I'm going to go for some 6k, still going to be a massive colour change from what I have at the moment, as said they're 10k atleast lol

Is there a particular brand/make you'd use, or a reccomended seller on eBay?

And H7 is bulb size and H7R are the non glare type?

H7R are intended for reflector headlights. They have a piece of tape on them to force a correct beam pattern.
