hey guys im looking at upgrading in the near furutre to the mk5 SE 1.2 105PS, can anyone give me any reasons to splash out abit more or to perhpas scale back im not yet 21 and have an accident so unfortunatly cupra and fr are kinda out the question.

also any general tips on how they run, i will be booking a few test drives i think as well :)

I guess to a degree its down to what sort of suspension you want, the Sport version is a couple of hundred pounds more than the SE but has a more firm ride quality. The SE has a more compliant ride over rough surfaces. Differences between them are a not much but Sport gets dark tinted rear windows, 16" wheels, sports seats and little leather on the steering wheel and gear stick.

can get all that in the design pack i noticed been litterally glued to the car designer trying to pick paint alone lol

If you don't mind spending a bit of options (17's are an almost must imo (the sport ones look nicer than the SE ones though...., leather steering wheel feels much nicer than the standard one etc etc) i'd probably go for the SE. the seats are a bit comfier day to day whereas the Sport ones are a bit more supportive, the SE suspensions softer, but if the roads round you are like they are here, its no bad thing, as the stiffer sport suspension can skip a bit if it's too bumpy i've found

seriously does that work?

wanted that engine mainly cos its nippy enough for the country roads i have to travel to get anyhere but also it boasts 55.4mpg on combined cycle :)

would be imense if it did :D

manual or DSG?

need a full time job first im afraid its dam stupid atm, been applying for jobs since april and so have had 1 interview :( utter ****, although the car is the first priority so after my first month or two of wages straight to the dealership :)

How are they out the question? i got a cupra and i have wrote off a car... think you will be surprised at your insurance... as im 20 with a claim and my insurance is £560 with my parents as named drivers. SPLASH OUT.

yea i would but just ran two different figures one for in a years time when ill be almost 22 and with 2 years NCD again and one for today as i am and the figures are silly as, difference of £1400 o yea and i did the cupra on the 22 year old quote and the SE on the current quote, and thats with parents added on :(

hence why im leaning towards the SE, it has an excellent fuel economy by the figures compared to the cupra, also appear to be abit of a sleeper with it not being a sports model :)

Yeah would be good to say you have 140bhp from a 1.2! SE suspension will be more comfortable as the sport suspension is stuffer. Like I said it really comes down to how much you want to spend on a car and what you want.

Sleeper car ftw! Get the sport! So u get the sport suspension and then lowering springs. U would be well annoyed if u didn't! I would be anyway!

If u want better mpg just watch ur driving style! I would normally get 46mpg+ if I drive super carefully! But normal driving 35mpg+

Shame about your accident really tbh. I am looking at getting a cupra/boc in the next year hopefully. I am 20 with 1years no claims. I made myself 21 and gave myself 2years claims to reflect this time next year and got quoted £1200 which is ridiculously cheap. Anything else in this sort of performance bracket and i'd be looking at £5k insurance.

I also add that I currently run a 1.0 Arosa, 50bhp and insurance group two. Thats cost me £1200 this year with 1years no claims so i really cannot wait till i get two years no claims :D:D:D

If you go for a sport then surely 'Good Stuff' is best option?
