I have just bought a Cordoba, R reg and it was immaculate. However having put the keys on the table at home my 16 month old has hidden the keys.

We have spent a week turning the house and garden upside down but the keys are nowhere to be found. I rang my local dealer which is Derby, they quoted me £120 for a replacement key, however they want me to have the car towed to them for it to be coded to the engine.

Any help or advice would be massively appreciated-Matt

leave another set of keys on the table.. see where little'un takes/puts them

How big is your house and how far can a 16month old baby walk?

Maybe we can start a list of possible places?
I'll start 1st.

If you got hi-fi speakers with holes for the sub-woofer in them look in there.

In all truth we've searched everywhere. What i need to do is bite the bullet and get a new key. If i pay the £120 to Seat of Derby is there way around getting it towed there for the recode? They told me the new key will start the engine for 3 secs only.

How much is the key and how much for the programming ?

I've only got one key myself, got another fob, just need the actual key cut and it matched to the car. Is it only Seat dealers that can match the key to car or does anyone now any other sources ?

:D I bet its down the back of the sofa. I'm sure thats where all my money goes too.

There Found!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THERE FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cannot believe it but we retraced our steps and rang up everywhere been. If he could have taken them off the table he might have picked them up when we went out. I made a list and rang each and every store but nowhere hand found them or had them handed in.

I had spent Saturday going through the bins and my wife did the garden- still nothing. So today my other half went everywhere retracing our steps from Ikea to a local kids wacky warehouse and still nothing. Then tonight Lisa, my wife remembered we had to go to the doctors and had remembered him tipping her handbag over when our newborn was being checked over.

We rang the doctors and the nurse said nothing had been handed in. My other half explained, William had tipped up the bag, and after a little insistence she reluctantly went for a look. He'd put them in a box of oxygen masks under the bed in the room!

My lil blighter once hid the nanny's keys down the back of the drawer stack in the kitchen, od knows why we thought to look there but was right down the back of there, had to take all the drawers out. if you've not looked there.

Oh, and i think the little one should buy you a 'whistle-controlled key fob' for xmas!

....BUT

on a serious note, with my cordy the manual says that it should come with a key fob with a code on it to allow the dealer to code you a new key. In fairness i didn't get one with my (used) one, but if you did get one - poss check in the service book? - then this may be a way around the towing situation. Surely one would have thought that, provided you had some ID and proff of ownership etc, Seat would know the right code for that car fron is reg/VIN? bit of a con i rekon :(
