If I sit in the car for an hour or more listening to the radio I get a “low 12v battery, start the vehicle “ warning on the infotainment screen. Never had this before on my mk3 Cupra R ST where I could sit listening to the radio for several hours. Is this normal or do I need to go to dealer….car 4 months old vZ3 333ps petrol, not hybrid.

It's probably a smaller battery to reduce weight, put less strain on the alternator and help reduce emissions. The warning might be premature, but unfortunately people do ignore them and inevitably let their battery go flat.

The yellow battery warning pops on my dash if I leave the ignition on for more than a couple of minutes.
