which is better and why bill?

full on competition would prefer to use plate type locking diffs... as both wheels will lock regardless to their position on the road etc.... (in the air or not)

think of jumping touring cars over curbs or rally cars in the air with one wheel etc...

They also have a % of locking on overrun, which aids stability under braking, which an ATB cant do.

I run an ATB diff, which for me on circuit use, keeping both driven wheels on the ground seems ok for me.. but I have also heard tale of a mk1 sprint golf which @ a sprint track was faster by 2 secs on his bets lap with a plate diff when he changed from a quaife atb. Sounds very impressive, but it might be urban legand material too.. who knows.

Peloquin is a US version of the Quaife, which can be found cheaper in some instances for supply buying from the US direct.

jus woundering a gain how much would the qauife jobby be not fitted just the diff? got a good few usful spaner monkey mates who ow me a gd few favours!

Hi Mate
The LSD is not the most expensive bit really.
The labour is about 8 hour ish.
There is a fitting kit that retails around £89.00 + VAT
There is then the oil.
There are 2 bearings too that is required.
A few gaskets that is required and a shim.
It is mainly the other bits and bobs that go on top of it that will take up the price of it
