righto , after our last altea near enough destroyed its own engine and now we have a 2.0FSI petrol engine . since we have had it 6months seat have already replaced the CAT as it desintegrated itself and all the brake discs . my mum was using the car tonight and all of a sudden the engine warning light has come on and is running lumpy as hell and almost stalling at idle . sounds like its not firing on one cylinder . anyone else had this problem ???

Hello 1litre wonder,

this most likely is the coil pack fault that m0rk already mentioned.

Driving a FSI myself, I was escaping this problem so far, but several other board members form german seatforum.de reported just this very behaviour wiht their FSIs ... and no indication when or under which circumstances these coil packs break down.

There should be a fault recorded in the ECU ...

Had two coil packs go on my 2.0FSI without warning at 12K miles - went lumpy and light came on. Packs replaced under warranty and no problems since (another 8K miles on). Does seem to be a very common problem and easily rectified - hope replacement are more durable!!

Coil pack went on ours 10 minutes after we drove it off the dealer forecourt for the first time. Replaced under warranty. When similar symtoms occured again we thought it was the coil pack again. Turned out to be damp in the connections of the coil leads. Dealer took them out, dried them and reinstalled with silicone sealant around the connections. No problems since.

right my dad has said that there replacing the camshaft sensor

BUT from what he has described to me it sounds like the coilpack there replacing cause he said there saying htat it will take them about half an hour to change but if it was a camshaft sensor it would take longer as they would have to take the head off of it so get access to the cam
