I've decided that I can't be bothered changing everything over to the quattro stuff, I must be getting too old for this modding game! I'm going to to get the new GT28R Eliminator which will be a straight swap for my GT2X, my existing 2.5-3" inlet should be good enough for this turbo to make around 300bhp.

Interesting improvement Rob.

I can't see any mention of how they get round the six speed problem, however it looks to me (and I could be wrong) as if the shaft isn't parallel to the engine, which would angle the turbo back from the shifter brackets?

Are they? Didn't know

Rob's was a pre-facelift, I thought he had a 5spd for some reason... Maybe I'm thinking of that bloke with the Golf.

6-speed yes. I have an adapter plate under my shifter bracket, this moves the cables roughly an inch or two to the right, Star made the plate up when doing the GT2X. This gives more room in front of the turbo inlet and the 2.5-3" transition elbow fits in there very well, the rest of the inlet is all 3" hardpipe and silicone right down to the filter.

After discussing my car with Jim @ Star, I have decided not to go for the quattro GTRS setup as 330bhp at 1.5 BAR is into rod breaking territory on the 180 engine. I *might* go for the GT28R Eliminator but as my car already has 280bhp and 300lbft it wouldn't be much of an upgrade for the money. I may go the other way and reduce weight to increase performance, sell the leather Recaro interior and fit a couple of bucket seats!!!
