MAP sensor placement with FMIC?

I've just got round to fitting an FMIC on my LC that I've had lying around for a while ready for my Stage 2 REVO [B)]

The FMIC has both the inlet/outlet on the same side, although not quite like the Forge one.

My question is does it matter which side the MAP sensor is located on? Due to way I will have to pipe it, it would be easier and a cleaner install if the MAP sensor was on the inlet side of the intercooler rather than after the intercooler and before the inlet manifold.

I did initailly think that it would have to go before the inlet manifold, after the intercooler, thinking that the MAP also had the intake air temperature sensor in it too but it seems that this is seperate to the MAP and contained in the inlet manifold just after the throttle body.

Can anyone confirm if the location of the MAP sensor is critical to anything else?

The FMIC will have a pressure drop across it, by putting the MAP pre-cooler the ECU won't be reading the actual manifold pressure.

The stock LC SMIC has it on the outlet, and the Forge twin pass cooler also has it on the outlet pipework ;)

Think I'll have to put it that side then and just deal with the slightly less tidy install. Not good for my ocd though

I would be locating it as close as possible to the manifold. Correct me if I'm wrong but the MAP sensor is the only thing the car has that measures actual boost? It compares this figure with the request boost from the ECU and that's what tells the N75 to open or close the wastegate. Therefore its in your interest to have the sensor reading at the point the pressure is lowest (right before the manifold), so the ECU can compensate. If you had it right after the turbo then you would loose a lot of boost by the time it reaches the manifold but the ECU wouldn't do anything about it.

Map = manifold absolute pressure I would of thought with ur OCD you would want it in the correct place you can make it a tidy install wherever it goes! and I'm not taking the mick I have OCD also so know what neat and tidy means but also the correct operation of these things is important too

You are spot on there! It's got to be right as well as neat and tidy. I've got a Forge MAP pipe so I'll get it as close to the manifold as I can then. It'll certainly be closer than on the SMIC.

Thanks for the replies.
