Hi All,

I'm looking to service my Toledo 2001 Y reg 110 TDI non PD. I have come across a service kit on ebay that uses Mehr filters:

Oil, Fuel, Cabin/Pollen, Air.

Does anyone have experience of using these filters specifically the oil filter? Or should I stick to using genuine VAG filters/kit.

Also, can anyone tell me how much oil I would require for a full oil change (litres) in addition to a quality oil that isn't too pricey.

Thanks

Naz

Yep, they're fine, I've used them before on my V5 tolly. I've not had any issues with using them, then again I think it would be many thousands of miles before I did see any problem.

I can't help you with the other questions though, I don't know what oil a diesel would need.

Cheers Slimy, I'll take that on board, only reason why I asked is re: Oil Filter, a mate of mine suggested that certain non VAG oil filters can cause problems (didn't specify what type of problem exactly) although it's reassuring that you've not had any issues with them yourself. I'm very cautious as I had the head gasket repaired last December and wasn't sure whether I should pay the extra amount and get genuine VAG filters or get these Mehr filters from ebay at a very reasonable price of £21.55.

Any ideas from anyone else re: how many litres of engine oil I'd need for an engine oil change and the engine oil for non PD TDI SE tolly 2001.

Thanks

I've just realised that information is in the owners manual! Anyway, for diesel engines it's 5 litres with the filter change. Now you just need a recommendation for a brand... :)

You need to get an oil that states it meets VW 505.00 specification. i would go for a fully synthetic oil but that will cost a bit more. I have recently started buying my parts from TPS (the official vw trade parts dealers) google them to find the nearest to you. They sell genuine oil and parts and are much cheaper than the dealer.

You will need to put just under 4.5 litres of oil in. I recently serviced my car and got 5 litres of the Quantum platinum which is fully synthetic for just over £20 from TPS.

Thanks Slimy and elnigel for this, really appreciate it. I'll give TPS a go and see what they come back with for a fully synthetic VW 505.00 spec oil.
