Noises and rattles are not uncommon on the Leon. It does sound like the noise is coming from underneath rather than inside. Noises have a habit of being misleading as to their origin so don't discount that it may be coming from the front.

The easiest way is to find a garage with a Shaker Ramp. If you wish to do it yourself, some of the causes can be :

Exhaust
Heat Shields
Fuel / Brake pipes behind the undertray
Stones on the undertray
Brake Disc Stone Guards
Loose brake pad
Shock Absorbers

Good luck.

Check in the rear bottom arms where the springs sit for stones. I have a gravel drive & occasionally stones drop off the tyre into that. The first time it happened I thought something was seriously wrong. Reach under the car & hit the bottom arms with something like a rubber mallet. If its stones you will hear them. A right pain to get out though.

Ihad this issue with my Leon when I fitted the coilovers my mate broke one of the coilovers shock absorbers so had to use the standard one and 2 days later I could hear a metal on metal noicelike a piece if metal was being rattled in a can. It was because my standard shock had been killed by the lower springs. Could be that mate.
