Well,i have just driven 18 miles home in my Tolly 20vt, after having a Milltek non-res catback fitted to the Toyosports 2.5 inch downpipe with sports cat. To say i am disappointed with the sound is an understatement indeed. As well as a headache which i still have,i also started to feel a bit physically sick towards the end of the journey. It is a low pitched boomy sound which just sounds like a standard system with a massive hole in one of the silencers. The only time the sound disappeared was when completely lifting off the throttle.
Anyone got any ideas of what i could do to sort this out ?

Mine sounds nice without a decat, I have one to go in but just not got round to it, ur thinking of the V6 Cupra.

Im not thinking of a V6 sound which is totally different. I have listened to 1.8 turbos/milltek combinations...mine sounds nothing like them

Maybe cause you have a Tolledo mate, mine sounds lush without a decat, has a lovely sound to it exspesualy planting the foot to the floor and going down gears lol

I have the Cupra mate, I also have the Ramair induction kit, maybe change your air intake it may sound better.

Remember the Toledo is longer than the Cupra so sound will have longer way to travel, the closer you are the the source the better the sound I'd say.

Well ive got a Cupra with a boot....and a Jetex cone/SFS large tip/Stage 1 remap and it still sounds sh_te !! Perhaps the sound will improve after a few hundred miles...

Yeh mate, I drove down to AMD to get my exhaust on and remap, it didn't sound as nice as it does now. Think the drive back up to Edinburgh broke the exhaust in, mine sound great now, has the nice barble to it, can't wait to get my decat on it will sound better, your also ment to go to stage two with the decat on, think that makes it sound even better.

Would the silencer not cancle out the sound tho? Is that not what there ment for?

Are you getting the pop bang? If you are your running rich. Some people don't no this but any leak in ur hoses will make the car run rich, if your dip stick isn't even in right the car will run rich

My friend have a Miltek filtted to his Cupra, I sat in the back of it for a 2 hour trip my head was pounding and I felt awful.

That was just after he had it fitted, now it's sooted up it sounds so much better, having put the down pipe, sports CAT and the exhaust on yours will be pretty unrestricted and loud.

Give it a few hundred miles and see how it changes.

My Cobra was fairly loud to start with, not it has a nice deep rumble on tick over, a good noise on full throttle but basically silent inside at cruising speeds.
