Hello

Was wandering if anyone has any ideas what could be wrogn with my 01 ibiza cupra, i took it yesterday to get revo'd and it was running but occasionally it made a popping noise, but after the code was put on it was running on 3 cylinders so the revo dealer put it on vag com to find a misfire on cylinder 3 unfortunatly my spare coils were at home 50miles away so we switched coil 3 to coil1 and ran it again now it was bringing up a fault on cylinder one. so i got a freind to bring up the coils and we put one in place of the faulty one and the car fired but wouldnt idle and kept cutting out which im guessing was the car clearing herself, eventually it was all ok but the idle was still hunting badly so we took it out a run and its got a misfire half way up the revs and is still popping but is showing nothing on vag coms. Anyone any ideas what could be wrong?

Cheers

I think they are £21 plus vat, cheers marc, i think its the maf tbh or another coil on its way out, but aiden at triplle 7 thinks its either the coil, maf or the idle valve, but he cant be too sure. Hopefully it gets sorted asap

Got it all sorted :D turned out to be a bad earth on the coils and a gunged up idle valve, the car goes really well now

Hello, im not too sure were the idle valve is cause the mechanic did it, and i think the bad earth was on the plug that lead to the coils, to get the coils out you need to remove the bracket over them and pull them up, dead easy

if the car feels lumppy at idel, and stutters and lumppys a lot at low speed ( like mine did the other day :( ) then it may be the coil packs, vag com reported 2 coil packs gone on mine, got all 4 replaced to be on the safe side :) also if anyone else looks at vag com with this symtom have a look and see if an error code of " car exceeded 7600 RPM ??? " im sure ive never taken it past 6500 RPM ??

cheers
