Hi all

I am currently driving a 55 plate Leon FR TDi 150 with only 69k miles and am getting bored of it, probably as I have owned three so feels like I’ve been driving the same car forever!

Thing is, it’s fun and easy to drive, crazy clean condition, no dents, no scratches, probably due to being garaged by the one previous owner so am thinking, could this be a future classic? I totally regret selling my Cossie now obvs, but they have more of a heritage to them!

If I sold it, watching what they make I would hope to get as close to £3500.00 as possible, but you never know.

What are peoples thoughts?

Cheers

I think the Cupra R would be the only future classic. Your car sounds lovely, but to the market no more than any other low mileage diesel.

I think a mk3 Ibiza cupra r is a safe bet of classic status soon as there are so few of them left compared to the mk1 Leon cupra r. Leon R has many years to wait for that kind of status because there are thousands of them and a lot of them are in really really good condition. TDI has no chance over the r so will in turn be overlooked I think. Then the soon to be introduced pay £10 a day system in London for these 1.9tdi and I'll bet it will roll out to Manchester, Birmingham ect ect then surly the road tax will get hit...maybe not this year but who knows if there safe at the cheap tax rate as that engine gets older and older. 1.8t keeps going up and I don't mind but will defo put most people off.

Personally - and I own a Cupra TDi - I think with the slide that is happening with diesel cars I would say its got classic car potential, but I see the values going to plummet for the foreseable future. So if you think you could get £3500 I would say sell it, as I would see it nearer £2500 tops

Well if they can sell for that, excellent. That one you have linked to looks great, but if it sells for that I would be totally shocked

With double your mileage I see them at £1500-£2000, but thats in Cornwall where I am

Uprate it if it were me.

You reckon you have had the car forever because you've had three. Pfft!

I've had the Cupra TDI (yes before the FR brigade) from new. It will be 14 years old in July next year. Reasonably low mileage too (88k) but not as low as yours.

Ok its old but it is very clean, still pleasant on the eye. perky (rather than quick imo) and still pretty economical and without the ball ache of a DPF. Its not going to win top awards with today's anti diesel eco warriors but its been the best car I've ever owned and cost buttons to live with.

Long may it continue as I'm dreading its eventual demise (cost, chasing round the countryside for cars etc)
