hey guys... its been a while since ive been on here,

Right ill get into it..

My car is on 115k now and to be fair its been great to me over the years. but now ive got a few problems,

Clutch started slipping intermittently, and still does now, weird because it just slips when it feels like it ?!?!? im assumed I probably need a new clutch dmf and slave cyl. bearing in mind the car was stage1 remapped back in 2010 when my car had only 70k on it. so the standard clutch has done well to get to 115k with no issues. but just don't know why it slips only now and then..

also, I noticed that that my gearbox has started to whine and grind in 3rd when I come off the gas, as the engine is braking. now I know this is an issue as there are various posts on here about this.

SO...

I booked the car in, service was due anyway, so I thought id get the clutch dmf and slave cyl changed.

got a call from the garage saying my car was ready (I know the guys well) .. got to the garage and they said theres some bad news....

The problem is the GEARBOX. it was noisy and is leaking oil. So they said there was no point doing the clutch etc because if the gearbox went afterwards, it was ruin the new clutch!!!!

SO.. heres where im at....

DO I GET THE GEARBOX REFURBED??

is this worth it as ive heard that refurbed gboxes are never the same once refitted, possibly due to cheaper parts used?

or

DO I GET A SECOND HAND BOX??

From an LCR that has done fewer miles??

oh, the car also requires both outer CV boots to be replaced
and n/s steering rack and track rod end, inc tracking done.

Can anyone shed any light on this situation? thanks.. .

I'm sure they will fit any clutch you say.

I would recommend a standard Genuine original SACHS item

I had same scenario on my LCR, opted for a recon gearbox and never looked back :)
