ok i want to swap my standerd 1.4 engine for sumthing with a bit more ommph don't want to go power or money crazy more straightforward swap the better, already got brake upgrade sorted so i can stop :p i was thinking of a golf gti engine i've only ever seen it done before once and that was on ebay looked fairly simple swap though i dont want to swap it for a turbo engine too much time and hassle and money somthing 1.8+ the easier the better any help cheers guys (& gurls)

You're better off selling your 1.4 and buying a cupra.

On top of your brake upgrade, you should uprate the suspension. Even then, you'll be missing the other nice bits, such as the better interior.

I bet that swapping your car for a cupra will be cheaper when you take into account the cost of parts, the cost to put them in and the additional insurance costs you will occur when you do the various upgrades.

In any case, if you're talking about the older golf engines (i.e. the 2.0 8v, 16v, 1.8 16v), they're the same as in the cupras anyway.
