It is 'correct'. I've come across a number of 2011 model Cupra R's that have that gear knob.
I say this as i've been on the search for the other version since I bought my 2011 LCR which has the same gear knob :(.

Not sure why Seat did it.... but I want the other style one which is no longer being made
I wouldn't say it's correct, more like what they had left in the parts bin.

Knob envy. It's a terrible thing.... :D

Mines black, it's a 62 plate and there was a 12 plate available from Newcastle Seat that was also black.

It wasn't available as a colour option on launch, but they did bring it in later.

I had a blue one first and agree the black doesn't allow all the details to show, so doesn't make the most of the cars looks. Especially with black wheels too.

There are now at least 4!

At least four!? Common as muck. I wish I'd waited for a kiwi one to come up ;)

Even considering that there will be other black Cupra Rs apart from the four identified so far, it seems odd that you do not see more about, if black became available on the options list. Accepting that some people would not want a black one because of the way it masks the Cupra R styling, for some buyers that would be a positive, as it could be said to be more subtle.

Out of interest, I wonder if they are all the same black. Given that mk1 Leon Cupras and Cupra Rs seem to have been made in at least two different blacks (black magic, ebony black) is the same is true of the mk2?

I've never seen or heard of another Furia Grey Cupra :)
There is a R in that colour on here, but not seen any other non-R's or R's in the custom Furia.

There's only 1 kiwi one I know of in the country and that was on a 59 plate.

There was a dealer in the north west who recently had a kiwi Cupra R and a kiwi K1 for sale at the same time. Maybe that was the 59 plate you remember. I was tempted to go have a look, but both had higher mileage than I was after.

The Kiwi LCR was the first one in the country and then Volkswagen Racing used it as a safety car after that.. lost track of where it went after that.

Here's my old FR TDI with it

When we were looking for an R back in 2012 there was a Kiwi Green one at the Seat dealers in Binley Woods Coventry , we went to have a look as our local dealer didn't have one we could look at. Can't remember the reg though.

The 2010 above does anybody have pictures of it with 10 plates on it.. because the 59 plate was a MY10 car so could be classed as 2010 car. The Kiwi 59 plate SEAT UK had then VWR was registered early for PR purposes.

My 2008 58 plated FR TDI was registered 3 days before 09 late came out, I've also seen a 58 plate facelift FR TDI with CR engine.

This was the one I was referring to earlier. Given that he is a used car salesman (I mean ELCC, not mike0105!), are we happy to take his word for it that there were five kiwi Cupra Rs?

Yeah just because it says it in an ad doesn't make it true. Just makes the car they are selling sound more desirable.

I saw a Cupra listed as having 'fantastic economy' which we all know isnt true!
