I know this has been discussed many times and there is a massive thread in the mk1 section, however most of that does not apply to the mk2 design.

Whilst hoovering the car yesterday I discovered that the front passenger foot well was wet, the carpet was wet through but in the left edge closest to the seat more than anywhere else (mainly behind where your left foot would be). In have checked the pollen filter and this was sealed and dry.

Assuming it was the door seals I attempted to take the panel off to see what could be done. That in itself was a mission as there is a small piece of white plastic that is moulded to the door panel and hooks into the door lock. I had to break this off the grommets just to free the door panel, which I did not want to do.

Once finally off there are so many wires and cables holding the panel to the door it makes things very difficult. Unlike the mk1 my leon does not have the inner metal skin which would have made things simple. It is literally the door card and the door.

This makes fixing the seals a lot harder as they are just a piece of rubber that sits in the edge of the door panel running along the bottom and both sides.

I have searched thread after thread to see what mk2 owners are actually doing to fix these and not found an answer. There was mention of silicone being applied inside the door to re route water but how I don't know. Other than buying new seals (probably genuine as they are shaped in a certain way to fit the groove in the panel) and hoping they solve the issue the only way I can see of doing it is to run a bead of silicone on the outer edge of the panel which would look rubbish.

As such I am in need of help to identify the cause of water and fix it.

I used the links at the top of this thread for the panel removal

Any luck sorting your leak mate?

Do the inner door skins haven a seal like you mentioned as I can't remember seeing one when removing mine.
I did notice my rubber seal that runs around the body of the car frame was worn though an holding water which look like it was causing a leak into my rear footwell.

Hi my doors only have an outer door panel which has a seal built into it. There is no inner door panel/sheeting if that makes sense. There is a rubber on the panel I can replace but there is nothing visiblly wrong with mine that I can see. I need to try and test how and where water gets in but not had chance to yet
