Hello All,

Seat Leon FR184, 2016. 123,000 miles, torquoise blue, sunroof (still get compliments on the colour).

There are two things on this planet that are guarenteed to make my blood boil.
1 Politicians (from any party)
2 Car parts ordered using what should be the correct manufacturers part number.... the part arriving not being correct.

I changed the fuel filter insert on my Leon FR184 a couple of years ago. The first one that arrived being too short and it had obviously been tried before as it had oily finger prints all over it. I sent it back and got the correct one sent out.
This time I found one that had a water seperator, I checked the part number against my car registration on several websites.... all good.

I guessed the filter insert could only go in one of two positions, there's an arrow pointing to the section of the housing that has a cam shape.
Fantastic, just need to put the top back on and jobs a good un.
The centres of the fuel flow in / return / out top cover do not line up with the filter insert hole centres.

My question is; has anyone else had this problem, is this filter insert for a different region, which has a different top and finally... have I once again been a twat and tried to fit it incorrectly?

Pictures attached.

Did the one you took out have the extra outlet on the top? I've just done mine and it only have the one hole in the middle.

I put the same "standard" type fuel filter insert in as a replacement.
There was no way the water seperator one was going to fit, not without modifying it and that possibly would have opened up a can of worms that I'd rather leave unopened!
Job done, now need to monitor the fuel consumption to see if it improves.

In the UK we don't get the filter with 'water separator'. Just for markets who have crap fuel quality. PR: 1A8.

The filter element OE number for my 2015 184 is 5Q0127177

When finding parts - most aftermarket suppliers don't have enough part level detail to accurately specify the exact parts. Their registration look-up can only link parts for an 2016 Leon for example; it doesn't go down to PR code and VIN specification level - so normally give the end user a choice of several parts which fit all 2016 Leon's.
You're also reliant on the aftermarket supplier correctly linking to the OE numbers and vehicles. Believe me; this doesn't always happen.

5Q0127177C is the OE number with water trap and PR code PR:1A8 (1A8 = Fuel system for DISI engine (tropicalized))
