Just having secured my licence, accquired a mk1 Leon and made my introduction. I am looking at purchasing a set of 18" MOMO GTR with 225/40/18 tyres. Will these be a straight swap? How far should i lower bearing in mind i will be carrying some not so slim folk in the back? And most importantly, how od you think the GTR's will look?

Wouldn't have mattered anyway, you can get 18"s on either shape of Leon.

Wheels look nice, really nice [B)]

If you get them new, you need 5x100mm stud pattern and if they're 8" wide (18j8) try to get them in an offset of ET35 or less or you might have clearance issues with the suspension if you decide to get coilovers at a later date

6mm spacers on mine - without them, the tyre rubs on the locking collar

It does matter as regards to how much it can be lowered. For example, a cupra is likely to sit lower than a 1.4 to start with, so wouldn't need as much taking out before it caused problems.

Heh, I just think it's a bit pointless doing anything to that car really.

Especially as it seems like he's just passed his test, so I hope he'll declare all mods. :|

I like those wheels. How much do they cost? :D

Cheers for the replies, very funny! As much as i love cupras, i absolutely wanted a leon and 1.4 was the only thing i could insure. Its my first car and im paying £1100 to insure the 1.4s, living in Belfast(£1600 in the city) .the cheapest quote by £500. I am intending on keeping this car just for a few years no claims and im 25 next year. So say 2 years time......... I will keep all stock parts then swap it over when i sell.

There was a Momo dealer in Manchester - supposedly the only UK importer

Had some QuazarII alloys on the Almera and tracked them down for some spigot rings (which are 57.1mm on the Leon btw) think the alloys were £230 each new - a £300 eBay bargain for 4 immaculate alloys off a Fiat Coupe cos he'd listed them as 98mm PCD (Italian specific) but used wobbly bolts to get them up to 4x100mm

Are those black GTR's on yours paul?

Or are you laughing at my ridiculous insurance? It was either pay that for a 1.4s or drive about in a fookin Vauxhaul Agila!
