Money to spend...on what though

So having been abused by the global economic crisis over the past 6 months, the world has finally turned the right way and I have been fortunate enough to catch it at the right axis. As a result, I have some money to spend to make the car either faster, or quicker. I dont mind how I do it, but whatever is done must not invalidate my SEAT warranty.

I would like to remap the car, but I dont fancy paying £500 for Blufin although I do appreciate that it is very helpful. Are there professional remaps available for circa £250/£300?

The idea of upgrading the springs has also been touted about but would this make the car more uncomfortable...it is already quite hard on the 18s and I wouldnt want to kill my spine any more than I already have!

So, what should I do?

Many thanks in advance!

you dont want to void your warranty yet both of those mods you have just quoted could very well void your warranty lol

i'd say keep it standard till the warranty has expired then i would think about upgrading parts etc :)

or if you do go ahead and mod it, a revo remap and a set of eibach sportline lowering springs are the peoples favourites

all the best with what you do!

My personal advice go for an APR remap if your close enough to get one if not BlueFin...as for springs depends if you like the comfort ride go for Eibach pro-kit they don't drop as much but the ride is smoother than sportlines again thats personal peference as I have had both kits, the reason i have the lower ones because I like the appearance (I class mine as sport not for comfort well alittle bit but not much) anyways...reason why I say APR because its more oem type and when I tested both REVO and APR if your not looking to go stage2 etc then either APR and bluefin will do the job I haven't tested the bluefin but yea im heading striaght for stage2+ once all my components are added (almost there).

APR is really smooth compared to the REVO but im only judging this by the trial maps, REVO is alot of fun but I rather have something different :) hope this helps. (with the mods you have on your list I would only assume you want to stay stage1 which don't require a CAI or an exhaust.

(just noticed you didn't wanna spend much on a map...) but to be fair you only pay it once and its the most noticeable "gain" that you will experience and worth to pay the extra amount.

springs won't void warranty on the whole car...and remaps can be disabled so its all good

So you don't want to invalidate warranty.

Then the only way to make your car go faster is professional driver training.

For £300 you will drive MUCH faster afterwards (and safely at that).

Win - win situation

Lighter wheels will make it go faster, as will any weight loss you can achieve through ripping out seats etc. None of that will void the warranty except perhaps any warranty on the parts you have removed.

Hurdy - What have you done to get 378bhp?

Ive done a couple of courses in professional driver training...one of the advantages of not learning how to drive in the UK!

I know that the re-map can be removed, but I wouldnt want to have to trek 200miles every time! I am based in Central London. Any ideas who would be my nearest / cheapest for a re-map? Are there any Xmas offers on with any of the big re-map companies?

As far as the weight-loss idea, I'd rather lose some of my own excess baggage before losing the back seats!

For the Springs, any idea on a cost...roughly?

Many thanks all!

Lowered springs will void warranty on other things including drive shafts, cv joints, bushes, shocks, and may even possibly include the gearbox if it was ever to pack up as the shafts come out from the box at an altered angle when lowered.

Lighter wheels do make a noticeable difference on the road by the way.

Won the Dyno lottery:p

Seriously though, I've been testing different octane boosters and altering the timing on my REVO stage 2+ and the car is absolutely mad fast at the moment.

Will be decatting too very soon.

I will be the 1st to get 400hp out of my k04 :cartman::cartman:

Seriously just get the map.Its not gonna invalidate your warranty, as you can just take the map off when you take it in for works.

If he can find a dealer to put it on he should be fine, but im pretty confident if a dealer looked for a map they would find it and invaladate certain parts of the warrenty.

Seat now sell lowering springs as an accesory £75 front and £75 rear. Take a peak at the website:)
So no need to worry about warranty if you go for them:p

They would need to send off the ecu to find the map. They would neeed a really good reason to do so and therefore is really highely unlikely.

Or log the car for requested and actual boost if whoever owns the car cant be arsed to put it back to standard when it goes in, or if they buy a non switchable map. I dont believe that the VAS systems in the garages can read the ECU, but I do know that it is possible for the car to be interogated remotely now through the stealer set up, according to a SEAT mechanic I know.

Could be wrong, but i think its still the cast that the ECU needs to come out and be read to see if it has non-oem code on it.

Thats quite interesting actually. I will ask on Monday when I take the car to the dealers about the springs. Any idea who makes them for SEAT?
