Glad to say that after 3 years and 22k miles my Leon SE passed its first MOT with flying colours and no advisories.

Problems in the 3 years so far:

Faulty sun visor light
Faulty centre console cover/flap
Sticking glovebox
Thirst for oil

All have been fixed under warranty thankfully.

No extra costs besides servicing/mot, fuel and insurance, tyres should last another year then I'm planning to change to a new car around the 4.5/5 year point.

Would I buy another? Yes but would be looking at an FR next time around and possibly via PCH as depreciation has been quite steep.

Hopefully facelift will have been released and glitches eliminated by then.

My 1.8TSi FR is also almost 3 years old and is booked in for its MOT early next month. I've done 23,000 miles and would also really like my tyres to last a few more months until I change my car probably to another similar 1.8 but this time with DSG.
I had my tyres checked a few weeks ago and the front tyres were between 3.5 and 4.0. Would it be advisable to get new front tyres before the MOT or is will this be perfectly OK? The rear tyres were perfectly OK at 5.0.

Legal tread depth is 1.6mm so will easily pass an mot with 3-4mm. Would expect a three year old car with only 22k miles to pass easily anyway!

3 years and 22k miles?
When my first MOT is due I'll be up around the 100k mark!
The 'newness' soon wears off my cars...

Swap the wheels front to rear. You might be able to chug on to the point that you swap the car without the expense of new front tyres.

Like you, I will have high miles with about 80k when it is due it's first MOT. Hopefully mine will pass with flying colours.
